Cybersquatting is the act of buying and
registering a domain that you know someone else will
probably want. If they do, the cybersquatter's hope
is that that person will pay a hefty sum in exchange for
the rights to the domain name. In some cases, this
has worked. The person who originally purchased and
registered the domain name business.com was paid more than
$7 million for the rights to the name. I

days of the internet, before most desirable domain names
were snatched up, there was a lot of cybersquatting and
some people made a lot of money doing it. Celebrity
names and company names (madonna.com, ford.com, etc.) were
popular with cybersquatters. Today, it's hard to
find valuable domain names that someone else hasn't
already registered.
