Assumption of Risk
If you are injured in some way, but if you
knowingly and voluntarily assumed the risk that you might
be injured, then under the legal doctrine of
"assumption of risk" you cannot sue the person
or business who injured you.
For example, if you play softball with
your company team and sprain your knee during a game, you
cannot sue your company or the other team for your injury
because you assumed that you might be injured when you
went out on the softball diamond.

|
Now if one of the other team mates comes
up to you during the game and deliberately slugs you, that
is a different story because that kind of injury is not an
inherent part of the game. You could sue that
specific player or file assault charges against him. If
you have been injured through no fault of your own, then
you should contact an attorney.
